Currently, there are still many food products in circulation that are dangerous to consumer health because they do not comply with the criteria and requirements in the law regarding products that may be circulated. In relation to this, the existence of distribution permits and supervision of products in circulation are very important in order to maintain food safety, however, this is still contrary to the existing reality because there are still many products in circulation without a distribution permit.
The formulation of the problem of this study is how effective is the Food Law and the Consumer Protection Law in preventing the circulation of food products without a permit and how the government's efforts are in supervising and imposing sanctions on producers who distribute products without a permit that threaten food safety for consumers.
The purpose of the study is to determine the effectiveness of the Food Law and the Consumer Protection Law in their current application to food products in circulation.
The specific target of this study is to find out in detail about distribution permits and to strive for the relevant government to provide consumer protection, namely supervising and preventing the circulation of food products that endanger the health and safety of consumers. Action against violations must also be taken either through sanctions in the form of closing business permits, fines, or other administrative sanctions in order to prevent the circulation of products without a permit.
Then the researcher uses a method to achieve the goal, namely the normative sociological and normative juridical legal research method, which is descriptive analytical in nature using primary and secondary data sources which are analyzed by the researcher qualitatively.
